Duke basketball: 10 names to know as Coach K eyes epic 2022 class
By Matt Giles
List of 10 potential 2022 Duke basketball recruits: Emoni Bates
2022 Top247 ranking: No. 1
School: Lincoln High School (Mich.)
Significant offers: Michigan, Michigan State, Kentucky
A scout’s take (Rivals recruiting experts Eric Bossi and Corey Evans): “With each passing day and each big-time performance (he had 63 points on Tuesday), his legend grows. What else is there to say other than he does it all and that he does it all with a fiery passion for the game? He will need to continue to get stronger and to tighten up his ball-handling and shooting, but he is a top-five, maybe top-three prospect of the Rivals.com era at this stage in his development.”
Duke-related chatter: Per ESPN.com, Duke has already delivered an offer to Emoni Bates. On the other hand, there is no other report of such an offer. In fact, other sites list only three offers or less for arguably the No. 1 prospect in high school due to the widespread assumption he’ll find a way to bypass college.
Either way, it does seem likely the five-star will make his way straight to the G League or overseas unless the potential profits from his name, image, and likeness at the college level become enticing enough, in which case the Blue Devils could become a contender for Bates.
