Duke basketball reaches out to coveted Florida transfer Andrew Nembhard
The Duke basketball program has reached out to coveted Florida transfer Andrew Nembhard.
Duke is dipping its toes in the transfer portal waters once again as the Blue Devils have reportedly reached out to Florida transfer point guard Andrew Nembhard after he withdrew his name from the 2020 NBA Draft and announced his decision to transfer from the Gators.
Nembhard would have to sit out of the 2020-21 season but would still have two years of eligibility remaining, starting in the 2021-22 campaign.

Currently, on its roster, Duke has point guard Jordan Goldwire and Jeremy Roach, both of whom may not be around in the following season.
Goldwire, a senior, will be graduating next May while Roach, a freshman, is a prime candidate to be an entry in the 2021 NBA Draft as a Top-15 selection.
Other programs that have reached out to the 6-foot-5 point guard include Gonzaga, Oregon, UCLA, Southern California, Memphis, and Georgetown.
Andrew Nembhard is an Aurora, Ontario native and a product of Montverde Academy, where he was teammates with former Duke star RJ Barrett.
Nembhard has also played with Barrett on the various Canadian National Teams.
In his two-year career at Florida, Nembhard averaged 9.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game on 42.8 percent shooting from the floor and 32.7 percent from 3-point range.

The point guard was named to the SEC All-Freshman team and followed that up by averaging 11.2 points per game in his sophomore season while keeping his other statistics fairly consistent across the board.
Duke is also courting rising high school senior Kennedy Chandler, a Memphis, Tennessee native who just announced he will be finishing up his career at Sunrise Christian Academy (Kan.).
The Blue Devils are a clear favorite to land the 6-foot-1 point guard, but both Chandler and Nembard could co-exist in the same backcourt considering Duke could be losing a plethora of guard talent after next season.
