Top 10 impact players for the 2020 Duke football team: S Michael Carter II
Duke’s defense was by no means perfect in 2019, but it was certainly solid at times. The Blue Devils ranked No. 53 nationally in points against. While the secondary often caused worry, key anchor Michael Carter II will be returning to provide stability and leadership in this area of concern.
Carter II enters his senior year as a leader on a defense that lost a plethora of experienced talent this past season. The veteran safety out of Douglasville, Ga., accounted for 30 tackles and an interception throughout the 2019 campaign.
Coming to Durham to assist in the secondary this fall is J’Marick Woods, a grad transfer from Michigan. One can only assume that the two will push each other to become even better athletes. Michael Carter II will not allow Duke’s last line of defense to be invaded by enemy fire in his last go-around as a Blue Devil.
