Duke basketball: Predicting landing spot for No. 1 recruit

Examining finalists for Duke basketball target Jonathan Kuminga: AUBURN

Per the 247Sports Class Calculator, the addition of Jonathan Kuminga to the nation’s No. 7 class for 2020 would bump that haul of Bruce Pearl to No. 4 behind that of recruiting powerhouses Kentucky, North Carolina, and Duke. Or, if the phenom stayed in 2021 but still headed south to Auburn, the Tigers would have a headstart on what could become the program’s first No. 1 crop.

In other words, Pearl and his gang are one Kuminga away from earning the title as a consistently legit five-star recruiting threat.

Not only would Kuminga thrive in Pearl’s fast-paced attack, but he might also enjoy the head coach’s fiery spirit, the fact that the program is on the rise after reaching its first Final Four in 2019, and the opportunity to one day join Charles Barkley as the school’s most famous hoops alums. Plus, from all accounts, the Auburn coaches have kept the foot on the gas in his recruitment, at least considerably more so than a couple of the other finalists.

On that note, let’s look at another staff that hasn’t backed off Jonathan Kuminga one iota…
