Duke basketball: Predicting landing spot for No. 1 recruit
By Matt Giles
Examining finalists for Duke basketball target Jonathan Kuminga: KENTUCKY
Kentucky head coach John Calipari already holds the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class for 2020 as he and his staff get set to embark on what has become an annual reloading ritual in Lexington. That six-deep bunch, consisting of an equal mix of four-stars and five-stars, is set to join Creighton grad transfer Davion Mitchell and Wake Forest departee Olivier Sarr, who is seeking a waiver to play right away.
But assuming Jonathan Kuminga does graduate high school this summer, he may not want to compete for attention and touches against the likes of incoming five-star shooting guards BJ Boston and Terrence Clarke, who rank No. 4 and No. 7, respectively, on the 247Sports 2020 Composite.
And even though Calipari, who has finished with a top-two recruiting class in each of his 11 seasons at Kentucky, seemed hot on Kuminga’s trail months ago — visiting The Patrick School last fall and then checking him out in a holiday tournament on New Year’s Day — that interest appears to have waned as of late.
