Ranking haters of Duke basketball greatness: No. 11 Virginia Tech

Props to the hostile crowds in Blacksburg over the years for never holding in the anger that stems from demoralizing losses to the Blue Devils, who hold a 40-10 all-time edge in the series. From waving creative signs — and one particular finger — to enunciating F-bomb chants so that Duke basketball fans can hear from their couches, Hokies surely warrant some sort of award.

Yes, the Hokies have beaten Mike Krzyzewski’s teams three times since 2016, but never have they ever ended a Duke basketball season in such a crushing fashion as the Blue Devils did to them in their 2019 Sweet 16 matchup (Virginia Tech’s best chance in more than 50 years at reaching a Final Four). And never have they ever drained a heave from halfcourt at the buzzer to leave Dukies stunned as Sean Dockery did to them in 2005:

Also, individual props go out to former Virginia Tech head coach Seth Greenberg, who helped spark the hate from Hokie Nation following its 2004 arrival in the ACC and does his best nowadays from the ESPN studio to incessantly spew the rancor Duke’s way.
