5. North Carolina

Unlike others before it on this ranking, North Carolina has made considerable efforts as of late to reel in the 2019-20 Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year. However, Roy Williams and his bunch did not officially enter the fray by means of an offer to Patrick Baldwin Jr. until a full year after their rival counterparts at Duke.

According to a tweet in late April from HOOPGATE, the staff in Chapel Hill is one of three to have conducted virtual visits with Baldwin Jr. since the recruiting trail shut down indefinitely in March because of current world conditions (Duke and Northwestern are the other two). Also, after taking an unofficial visit to Duke in February, he stopped by UNC and later reflected on the trip to Rivals insider Corey Evans:

“I took a tour of the facilities and got to know the coaches a little bit, and Coach Williams is a really good guy…He had some really good and impressive stories to tell, especially about Michael Jordan and [Cameron] Johnson…and Justin Jackson. It was really cool to just visit those two programs on the same weekend and see they are the same with how they expect greatness…but are also different in some respects.”

Looks like a 10 PERCENT CHANCE the North Carolina Tar Heels land Patrick Baldwin Jr.
