8. Virginia

While Virginia does seem like a decent match for Patrick Baldwin Jr.’s persona — even-tempered, smart, confident — it doesn’t appear as if head coach Tony Bennett‘s push has been as consistent as those in the top five of this ranking.

Furthermore, the program has not signed a five-star recruit since Bennett arrived in 2009, having a lot to do with the slow-tempo playing style. That said, the lack of potential one-and-done players, which Baldwin Jr. looks primed to become, appears to be by design. And considering the Cavaliers are the most recent national champs, it’s hard to knock the strategy. At the same time, though, it’s easy to keep Virginia from appearing any higher here for that very reason.
