THE SEASON SYNOPSIS

As sophomores, the collection of Johnny Dawkins, Mark Alarie, David Henderson, and Jay Bilas managed to more than double their win total as freshmen. In doing so, dreams of postseason success became realistic.

And a win in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament over No. 1 North Carolina, who had Michael Jordan as a junior, was certainly dreamy. But then the season ended with two straight losses. Bigger dreams would have to wait.
