THE SEASON SYNOPSIS
The 1990-91 Duke basketball team may have pushed the program over the hump, but the 1985-86 squad had to come first. Outside of the crushing last-minute loss to Louisville in the NCAA Championship Game and the back-to-back losses in January to top-five opponents North Carolina and Georgia Tech, the record was unblemished.
Three seniors for leading scorers. A heralded backcourt defender as a junior in Tommy Amaker. And a new budding star in town in Danny Ferry. It’s no wonder the team remains in a tie with the 1998-99 team for the program’s most wins in a season with 37.
