THE SEASON SYNOPSIS
The early departures for the NBA from Elton Brand, William Avery, and Corey Maggette were all at once and the first in Duke basketball history. Fortunately for Coach K, he welcomed another stellar bunch for the 1999-00 campaign while welcoming back Shane Battier and Chris Carrawell.
A team loaded with potential — but plenty of inexperience, as future great Jason Williams would often show — lost only one ACC game and captured the conference tournament title but fell flat in a Sweet 16 loss to Florida.
