THE SEASON SYNOPSIS

While Marvin Bagley III was spectacular on offense, he did little on the defensive end. Overall, though Wendell Carter Jr. and Grayson Allen had unique defensive skills, the 2017-18 Duke basketball squad had trouble defending 3-pointers. Also, it struggled to keep its foot on the gas after building small leads (a prevalent issue in the program’s one-and-done era).

All that said, the talent alone nearly prevailed but came up one Allen shot short of a Final Four.
