THE SEASON SYNOPSIS
While JJ Redick was dazzling from beyond the arc and at the charity stripe from Day One as a Blue Devil, he wasn’t much of a defender and still needed to drop his baby fat. High-flying Dahntay Jones took a leap as a senior and was a competitive leader alongside speedy point guard Chris Duhon. Plus, Daniel Ewing was coming into his own.
Ultimately, though, Duke would learn for the first time that a cold night from Redick alone could end a season. The freshmen went 2-for-16 from the field, including 1-for-11 from deep, in a Sweet 16 loss to Kansas.
