THE SEASON SYNOPSIS
Two seasons after the loss to No. 15 seed Lehigh, the Blue Devils crumbled again in March, this time to No. 14 seed Mercer. The 2013-14 Duke basketball team, like the 2011-12 version, had a potent freshman weapon as well as some solid sophomores and juniors.
Plus, it managed a satisfying win over the Tar Heels. But it just didn’t have the defense or the bench — only seven players averaged double-digit minutes — to accomplish much after that.
