Duke finished Shelden Williams‘ freshman season 26-7 (11-5, third in the ACC), winning the ACC Tournament but falling in the NCAA West Regional Semifinal, again to Kansas.

Williams played in all 33 Duke games (starting 23 of them) and led the Blue Devils with 5.9 rebounds per game and 1.6 blocks per game and finished second on the team in field goal percentage at 51.6. In the conference, the Duke demon of defense ended the year fourth in total blocks, eighth in total rebounds and 13th in 2-point field goal percentage.
