Nolan Smith, the Director of Operations for the Duke basketball team, fired back at Louisville head coach Chris Mack after Louisville fell to Florida State on Monday night.

Do you hear that? No? Listen closer.

Oh my, that’s the People’s Champ music!

Nolan Smith returned as the People’s Champ on Monday night as things could not have been any better for Duke.

The Women’s Basketball team went on the road and took down No. 8 North Carolina State, and a few minutes later the Florida State Seminoles defeated the Louisville Cardinals in comeback fashion in Tallahassee.

Louisville’s defeat once again gave Duke control of its own destiny to win the ACC regular season and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament if the Blue Devils win the remainder of their games.

However, Smith sent Duke Twitter ablaze after firing this tweet off following Florida State’s victory.

The tweet was in response to Louisville head coach Chris Mack sending a similar tweet after Duke was blown out by North Carolina State last week, which gave Louisville control of its own destiny to enter the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed.

Louisville (23-6, 14-4 ACC) defeated Duke (23-4, 13-3 ACC) in the only matchup between the teams in January, but the Blue Devils defeated Florida State (24-4, 13-3 ACC) in their only meeting while the Seminoles have defeated the Cardinals twice this season.

Duke and Louisville could have one more matchup in the Championship or Semifinals of the ACC Tournament if chalk were to hold, which is likely due to the level of play in the ACC this season, but if this season has taught us anything, never expect the ordinary to happen in college basketball.
