The Duke Softball team has gotten off to a great start to the season highlighted by its most recent win over the No. 4 Texas Longhorns on Saturday night.
The sports season in Durham is in full swing, and the Duke Softball team has gotten off to a fantastic start to its year.
In its third season in existence, the Blue Devils have jumped out to a 13-2 start after winning 29 and 25 games in its first two seasons, respectively.

Duke picked up its firsts signature win of the season on Saturday night against the No. 4 Texas Longhorns in the Texas Invitational taking place in Austin, Texas.
The victory was the first ranked victory Duke secured against one of its opponents and it was the first loss the Longhorns have suffered this season.
Catcher Jazmine Moreno caught a runner trying to steal second base to end the game after Caroline Jacobsen drove in the lone of the game for Duke in its 1-0 victory.
Peyton St. George (4-1) picked up the win for the Blue Devils after throwing a complete-game shutout while allowing just seven hits and one walk while only striking out one batter.
Miranda Elish (7-1) was handed the loss for Texas after she also pitched a complete game but allowed three hits, one run, and struck out five.

Duke’s two losses came this year against the UCF Knights in the Orlando Invitational and in the first game of the Texas Invitational against Lipscomb.
The Blue Devils return to Durham to face NC Central on Tuesday evening before traveling to face the North Carolina State Wolfpack on Wednesday in its first ACC game of the season, who are off to its best start in program history at 11-4.

Duke finished sixth in the ACC in its first year of existence before finishing in third last season.
