Duke basketball legend Grayson Allen has been planted on the Memphis Grizzlies bench the past few weeks recovering from a hip injury that could keep him out of action for the remainder of the season. Before the setback, though, the 24-year-old from Jacksonville, Fla., was coming into his own in the league, channeling his athleticism, shooting, and competitiveness into handfuls of promising plays.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound shooting guard, a savior for the Blue Devils in the 2015 National Championship Game, scored in double figures in a third of the games he played in before his injury. Like him or not, Allen is a weapon on the wing with a legit shot at putting together a long NBA career.
