After being on a two-way contract his first two years out of college and spending most of his time in the G League, 2015 Duke basketball national champ Amile Jefferson earned a two-year deal from the Orlando Magic this season but primarily hung out on the bench.

Last week, the Magic waived the 6-foot-9, 225-pound former four-star recruit out of Philadelphia. At this point, Jefferson’s future in the league remains uncertain. The player who consistently improved from one season to the next in Durham doesn’t quite have the bulk to bang inside. Yet he lacks the perimeter game to play at the three-spot. Nevertheless, considering his positive persona and work ethic, the 26-year-old could land with another franchise.
