Sticking with the injury theme, former Duke basketball one-and-done Wendell Carter Jr., a 20-year-old who has been a starter in every NBA game he’s ever played in, has been out of commission for the Chicago Bulls since early January while nursing a high ankle sprain.

However, the 6-foot-9, 260-pound beast on the boards and leader in the paint on defense told NBCSports.com writer Rob Schaefer that he hopes to be back in action for the next game (Thursday at home against the Charlotte Hornets). According to Schaefer, “Since Carter’s absence began, the Bulls own the 19th-rated defense in the NBA (113.1), resulting in a drop from No. 6 in the league on Jan. 7 (105.6) to No. 13 (108.2) just a month later.”
