Five Duke commits placed on same team for Jordan Brand Classic

The Duke basketball team will have five future players on the same team in the 2020 Jordan Brand Classic in late March.

Duke fans love to get an early look at the future players, and the Blue Devil faithful will have no better chance to see the next crop of superstars in late March.

The Jordan Brand Classic will head to the Windy City, and five Duke commits will all be on the same team in Jalen Johnson, DJ Steward, Jeremy RoachJaemyn Brakefield, and Mark Williams.

Henry Coleman is the lone Duke commit that did not get selected to the game that will take place in the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

Coleman will play in the Iverson Classic alongside Steward, Johnson, and Williams.

Duke also has Steward, Williams, and Roach playing in the McDonald’s All-American Game.

According to ESPN, Mike Krzyzewski has the No. 2 recruiting class coming in for the 2020-21 season while 247 Sports also gives the Blue Devils the No. 2 recruiting class in which Duke trails the Kentucky Wildcats in both rankings.

Duke has some history in the Jordan Brand Classic as Jahill Okafor is tied for the third leading scorer in the game with Anthony Davis with 29 points as Okafor was named as the MVP of the game in 2015 while Jabari Parker was named as the MVP in 2013 and Kyrie Irving got the honors in 2010.

The last time Duke has all of its commits on the same team that were selected to the game was in 2018 with Tre Jones, RJ Barrett, Cam Reddish, and Zion Williamson, but Williamson did not play in the game due to a thumb injury and Barrett did not attend the game in order to rest.

The Jordan Brand Classic will take place before the McDonald’s All-American Game on March 27 from Chicago and it has yet to be announced what time the game will be or network it will be broadcasted on.
