Justise Winslow gets traded from Miami Heat to Memphis Grizzlies

The former Duke basketball star and National Champion, Justise Winslow, was traded from the Miami Heat to the Memphis Grizzlies as the NBA Trade Deadline looms.

Justise Winslow is in for a lifestyle change as the former Duke Blue Devil is headed from the Miami Heat to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the massive deal that sends Andre Iguodala to Miami.

Memphis acquires Justise Winslow, Dion Waiters, and James Johnson from the Heat while the Grizzlies are receiving Andre Iguodala, Solomon Hill and Jae Crowder from Miami.

The Heat are also trying to involve a third team in the deal, the Oklahoma City Thunder, in an attempt to land forward Danilo Gallinari.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the deal.

Winslow won a National Championship in his only season in Durham and was then drafted by the Heat with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

In four and a half seasons with the Heat, Winslow has averaged 9.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists but has been limited to 11 games this season due to various injuries.

Winslow has been most recently dealing with a back injury that has held him out since January 8, which was his first game since December 14 as he was dealing with a concussion.

In Memphis, Justise Winslow will be reunited with two of his fellow freshmen and National Champions at Duke, Tyus Jones and Grayson Allen.

Jones signed with Memphis last offseason after the Minnesota Timberwolves opted not to bring him back to his hometown and Allen was traded from the Utah Jazz to the Grizzlies in the offseason in the Mike Conley trade.

The Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the most surprising teams of the season, sporting a 26-25 record with a three-game lead over the Portland Trail Blazers for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.

Justise Winslow is expected to remain sidelined through the All-Star break as he continues to recover from his back injury.
