Tre Jones, Vernon Carey Jr. named to late season Wooden Watch List
Vernon Carey Jr. and Tre Jones, the stars of the Duke basketball team, were named to the late season Wooden Award Watch List.
Good news just keeps rolling in for the Duke Blue Devils as its starting point guard and center, Tre Jones and Vernon Carey Jr., were named to the John Wooden Award late season Watch List.
Both players were named to the preseason watch list and midseason watch list, but the explosive Blue Devil duo will now try and keep the award in Durham after Zion Williamson ran away with the National Player of the Year Awards last season.

Kansas and Maryland are the only schools to have multiple players on the late season watch list as Devon Dotson and Udoka Azubukie represent the Jayhawks and Anthony Cowan Jr. and Jalen Smith are representing the Terrapins for the award.
Vernon Carey Jr. is leading the Blue Devils on the season averaging 17.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game in addition to 1.1 assists and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 59.7 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from 3-point range in just 24.7 minutes per game.
Tre Jones is right behind Carey Jr. in leading Duke with 15.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game on 44.0 percent shooting from the field and a much improved 36.2 percent shooting from 3-point range.
Jones and Carey Jr. have led Duke to an 18-3 record (8-2 ACC) and the Blue Devils currently sit as the No. 7 team in the country according to the Associated Press Top-25 Poll.

Louisville forward Jordan Nwora is the only other ACC player that was placed on the late season Wooden Award Watch List as the league continues to struggle this year in terms of elite caliber players and teams.
The John R. Wooden Award will be presented during ESPN’s College Basketball Awards on Friday, April 10.
Vernon Carey Jr., Tre Jones, and the Blue Devils will be back in action on Tuesday, February 4 for the middle game of its three game road trip as Duke faces the Boston College Eagles at 7:00pm EST on ESPN.
