From all accounts, Paul VI Catholic (Va.) point guard Jeremy Roach has put behind him the ACL tear in his right knee that robbed his entire junior season. Actually, some believe the top-notch creator exhibits even more bounce and quickness than he did prior to his injury.

Assuming Duke’s starting point guard this season is in the NBA at this time next year — confirmation of that safe guess, along with a recap of the predicted roster, is coming up next on the final slide — Roach should receive the backcourt reigns the moment he steps on campus. Back in May, by becoming Duke’s first 2020 commit, the heady floor general with a solid outside shot made clear his excitement about becoming a Blue Devil.

Thus, there should be no reason at all to think the five-star signee somehow might not be on the 2020-21 Duke basketball roster. The prediction here is that Roach will represent one of the core pieces to the puzzle for the Blue Devils as just a freshman (definitely a one-and-done candidate).

But will Roach — or Steward — be the most breathtaking piece? Not so fast…
