Alex O’Connell

Alex O’Connell entered his junior season with high expectations and in recent weeks, fans have seen his game taper off.

O’Connell entered his slump right around the time where Joey Baker emerged, and on a team that plays ten players and there aren’t a lot of minutes to go around, players must make the best of every opportunity they are given.

However, with Moore going down, that’s one player less to receive minutes and as the freshman is averaging 22.1 minutes per game, perhaps O’Connell can take advantage of being on the court for a longer period of time.

O’Connell is averaging 5.7 points per game on 37.5 percent shooting, but just 26.7 percent from 3-point range, which is significantly lower than most expected.

With Wendell Moore down, Alex O’Connell has his chance in front of him to break back into the rotation and receive significant minutes going down the stretch of the regular season.
