A key to the Duke basketball players’ solid campaign so far has been their ability to create open shots by way of picturesque spacing and passing.

With ACC play fast approaching, Duke basketball fans now have a pretty good feel for how this year’s team plays.

The No. 4 Blue Devils (10-1, 1-0 ACC) have shown the nation that they are far from selfish and anyone on the floor can step up when needed. Four guys are averaging at least 10 points, and 10 are averaging at least three.

As we have seen all season, this Duke team has as good of ball movement as any team in the country. With the Blue Devils averaging 16.3 assists per game, it seems there’s always someone new catching fire.

There is no lack of talent on this squad, and head coach Mike Krzyzewski knows it. Having a veteran facilitator like sophomore point guard Tre Jones, who is leading the squad with 7.1 assists per game, Krzyzewski feels completely confident with how his team will execute offensively as well as defensively.

One of the biggest factors that came into play in the last outing was the leadership of junior combo guard Jordan Goldwire, who made his second career start. With Jones sidelined for the home game against Wofford on Dec. 19 with a mild sprain in his left foot, Goldwire was expected to step up as the starting point guard.

Goldwire was able to open up the floor and help work the ball around to create high percentage shots. Just take a look at the following thing-of-beauty highlight from the 86-57 win over the Terriers:

Duke’s offense this year consists of the ability to share the ball and get the best shot most every time the Blue Devils come down the court. If this type of unselfish play continues, and a star continues to shine each night, we very well could be seeing Krzyzewski and the Blue Devils holding up a sixth NCAA trophy in April.

The Duke basketball team returns to action on Friday at 11:30 a.m. (ESPN2) when it hosts 5-5 Brown.
