Former Duke Football quarterback Daniel Jones led the New York Giants to an overtime victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday in his return from an ankle injury.

Daniel Jones returned from a two-game absence with an ankle injury on Sunday afternoon to face the Washington Redskins.

Jones had a record setting day as the Giants won 41-35 in overtime as the rookie signal caller completed 28-of-42 passes for 352 yards, five touchdowns, and no turnovers. The former Blue Devil also rushed for 12 yards on three carries.

According to Pro Football Reference, Daniel Jones is the first rookie quarterback to have over 350 passing yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions in NFL History.

Jones connected with Kaden Smith for two touchdown passes, including the game winning score in overtime, as well as Sterling Shepard, Saquon Barkley, and Cody Latimer.

An old-fashioned shootout was brewing between the two of the top three rookie quarterbacks selected in the 2019 NFL Draft in Daniel Jones and Dwayne Haskins, but Haskins left the game with an ankle injury and did not return.

Haskins was 12-of-15 for 133 yards and two touchdowns prior to his injury.

Daniel Jones injured his ankle on December 1 in a loss to the Green Bay Packers and the high-ankle sprain caused him to miss two games as veteran Eli Manning started in his place.

The Giants went 1-1 in Jones’ absence with a win over the Miami Dolphins and a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Sunday marked the second time Daniel Jones has faced an opponent twice this season and he is now 2-0 against the Washington Redskins in his career as New York defeated Washington back in Week 4.

New York improved to 3-11 on the season with the win over Washington on Sunday and will have one game remaining where the Giants host the Philadelphia Eagles, who can clinch the NFC East with a victory.

In the final game of the regular season, the Giants and the Eagles will kick off at 4:25pm EST at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday, December 29.
