The Wofford Terriers will be entering Cameron Indoor Stadium to face the Duke Basketball team on Thursday night and the Terriers have struggled against most Power-5 teams, except one.

It seems that each year, at least two of the last three, the biggest win of the season for the Wofford Terriers comes against a Tobacco Road team.

Luckily for those who support the team in Durham, those wins are not at the expense of the Duke Blue Devils, rather the school that resides in Chapel Hill.

On Sunday afternoon, the Terriers entered Chapel Hill and defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels for the second time in three seasons.

Last season, Wofford fell to North Carolina in their own building, but that didn’t stop the Terriers from reaching the NCAA Tournament and defeating the Seton Hall Pirates before falling to the Kentucky Wildcats.

However, Wofford lost its star player, Fletcher Magee, and its head coach, Mike Young, who is now the head coach of the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Despite losing its best player and head coach, the Wofford philosophy has not changed. The Terriers are going to let it fly from 3-point range.

With a 7-4 record entering Cameron, Wofford won its first two games of the season before dropping four straight games, against William & Mary, Butler, Missouri, and South Florida.

In its win against North Carolina, Wofford was led by Trevor Stumpe with 19 points, but it is Storm Murphy who leads the team in averaging 14.5 points per game and shoots 54.8% from the field and 54.5% from 3-point range.

As a team, the Terriers shoot 38.9% from 3-point range.

Nathan Hoover is the only other player on Wofford to average double-digit points with 13.6 points per game but only shoots 27.8% from 3-point range.

New head coach Jay McAuley has a deep roster that has seven players that average at least 7.0 points per game.

Duke will have its work cut out for them trying to run Wofford off the 3-point line after not playing a game since December 6 but the Blue Devils will get things going again on Thursday at 7:00pm EST on ESPN2.
