The New York Knicks finally snapped its 10-game losing streak thanks to the play of former Duke Basketball superstar R.J. Barrett.

To say things haven’t been great for the New York Knicks this season would be an understatement.

Head coach David Fizdale has already been fired and entering Wednesday night’s game with the Golden State Warriors, who are also one of the worst teams in the NBA, the Knicks were looking to snap a 10-game losing streak.

The Knicks led by as many as 22 points, but no lead is safe with New York as the Golden State Warriors came back to take a lead in the fourth quarter before making another small comeback to send the game to overtime in the final seconds.

New York was able to hang on in the extra five minutes, winning 124-122 over the Warriors to improve to 5-20 on the season.

One of the main reasons the Knicks were able to defeat the Warriors was the play of rookie R.J. Barrett.

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft posted a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds in addition to three assists, a steal, and a block.

Barrett posted a game-high 46 minutes while shooting 8-of-16 from the field, 3-of-5 from 3-point range, and 3-of-4 from the free throw line, although the one miss Barrett had at the charity stripe could have prevented the game from going to overtime as two free throws with 7.7 seconds left could have put the Knicks up by four, instead New York only led by three and D’Angelo Russell tied the game.

In his rookie campaign, R.J. Barrett is averaging 14.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 39.3% from the floor, 32.1% from 3-point range, and 54.6% from the free throw line.
