Former Duke Basketball player Rodney Hood suffered a torn achilles on December 6 against the Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazer underwent surgery on Wednesday for the injury.
On Wednesday afternoon, former Duke Blue Devil Rodney Hood underwent surgery for a ruptured left achilles he suffered in the first quarter in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on December 6.
Hood was only able to play nine minutes in the game and missed the only shot he attempted, but he did grab two rebounds, dish out an assist, and record a steal.

A first-round draft pick of the Utah Jazz in the 2014 NBA Draft, Rodney Hood was entering his first full season with the Portland Trail Blazers after coming to Portland from the Cleveland Cavaliers last season.
Hood was vital in the Blazers’ run to the Western Conference Finals last season, averaging 9.9 points per game in the postseason, shooting 46.8% from the field and 35.3% from 3-point range.
After playing 27 games in the regular season for Portland last season, the Mississippi native played in, and started, 21 games for the Trail Blazers this season, averaging 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.
Rodney Hood was shooting a scorching 50.6% from the field and 49.3% from 3-point range before his season-ending injury.
Hood posted a message to his fans on his Instagram page on Wednesday afternoon, thanking them for their support.

Several former Blue Devils commented on Hood’s post including Jahlil Okafor, Quinn Cook, and Gary Trent Jr. Cook and Hood were teammates at Duke while Trent Jr. and Hood have been teammates in Portland for the past two seasons.

Other Blue Devils that ‘liked’ Hood’s post include Harry Giles, Tyus Jones, and the official Duke Men’s Basketball Instagram Page.
The Portland Trail Blazers also posted a post-surgery photo of Hood on Wednesday on its own Instagram page.
No timetable has been given for a possible return for Rodney Hood to return to the court, although the typical timetable for an achilles rupture is approximately missing one full season.
