The New York Giants lost to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football with former Duke Football quarterback Daniel Jones sidelined with an injury.

It was the first game former Duke Football quarterback missed with injury and it was a heartbreaking loss for the New York Giants.

The Giants fell in overtime, 23-17, to NFC East rival the Philadelphia Eagles as Daniel Jones could only stand and watch on the sideline with a mild-high right ankle sprain.

Eli Manning started in place of Jones, who started the first two games of the season both losses for the Giants.

Manning got the Giants out to a 17-3 lead at halftime, but the G-Men were outscored 20-0 in the second half and overtime.

The two-time Super Bowl MVP completed 15-of-30 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns and did not turn the football over.

New York had a chance to win the game with just under two minutes remaining in regulation after the Eagles tied the game at 17, but the Giants failed to gain a first down on the drive, gaining just seven yards and only taking 28 seconds off the game clock.

The Giants did not get the ball in overtime as the Eagles won the coin toss and went right down the field to score a game-winning touchdown and moved into a tie with the Dallas Cowboys for first place in the NFC East at 6-7.

Giants head coach Pat Shurmur would not commit to playing the former Duke Football star next week, saying that the team would take it week-to-week, depending on the health of Jones.

With Manning being on the final stages of his career, it’s very possible that the veteran could get one more start in front of the home fans at MetLife Stadium.

The New York Giants will host the Miami Dolphins next Sunday, December 15 at 1:00pm EST and the game can be seen on CBS.
