The Miami Hurricanes are coming off its worst loss in program history, according to head coach Manny Diaz, but the Canes will be looking to get right against the Duke Football team.

Things haven’t been smooth for the Miami Hurricanes on the football field this season.

Just when you think the Canes might have things figured out, something goes wrong, just like last weekend’s loss to Florida International.

More from Ball Durham

Head Coach Manny Diaz called the game the worst loss in program history as the Hurricanes were riding a three game winning streak entering the game and then fell flat on its face, losing 30-24.

It was labeled as a neutral site game, as it was played in Marlins Park, the home of the Major League Baseball team, the Miami Marlins.

Miami started the year with back-to-back losses against then No. 8 Florida and the North Carolina Tar Heels but back to back wins against Bethune-Cookman and Central Michigan got the Canes back to .500 on the season, despite not beating a Power-5 team.

With a chance to prove it turned a corner, Miami fell into a 28-0 hole against Virginia Tech at home at its comeback attempt fell short, dropping the game 42-35.

A win over then No. 20 Virginia followed by a loss to the lowly Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets continued the up-and-down trend of the Hurricanes this season before its winning streak over Pittsburgh, Florida State, and Louisville, with the first two games coming on the road, to round out its 6-5 record at the moment.

Jarren Williams won the quarterback competition at the beginning of the season over N’Kosi Perry and Tate Martell as the freshman is completing 64.8% of his passes with 18 touchdowns and six interceptions on the season.

Williams is not much of a threat with his legs as he has accumulated a total of negative 47 yards and no touchdowns.

One player who is a major threat with his legs is running back DeeJay Dallas who was closing in on 700 rushing yards this season with 693 in just 115 attempts in addition to his eight touchdowns on the season, but the Blue Devils will hot have to worry about the star back as he is out for the remainder of the season due to a dislocated elbow.

In Dallas’ absence, Manny Diaz has leaned on Cam’Ron Harris who has 501 yards and four touchdowns this season on 94 rushing attempts.

Jarren Williams has spread the ball all around the field this season, as Miami does not have a receiver who has 500 yards this season, but the Hurricanes do have four players over 400 receiving yards.

The pass catchers are led by tight end Brevin Jordan who has 35 receptions for 495 yards and two touchdowns but the touchdown leader on the team is K.J. Osborne with five in addition to his 42 catches and 469 yards.

Mike Harley is the other Canes receiver with at least 400 yards as the junior has totaled 466 yards on 36 receptions and three touchdowns.

Duke will try and contain the explosive playmakers of the Miami Hurricanes at 3:30pm EST on Saturday, November 30 at Wallace Wade Stadium with the game to be broadcasted on ESPN2.
