Stock down from No. 1 Duke’s historic loss to Stephen F. Austin
The Duke Basketball team suffered a historic loss on Tuesday night to the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks and no Blue Devils played well in the defeat.
It’s old news by now, but if you haven’t heard, the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils lost to the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks in overtime 85-83 on Tuesday night.
For after each game, we have posted a Stock Up, Stock Down column, highlighting the players that performed well and those who didn’t play up to its standards for each game.

The only exception was when only a Stock Up was posted for the 51-point win over Central Arkansas and a cumulative Stock Up, Stock Down was posted for the two games in two days at the 2K Empire Classic.
However, there will be another exception made for this post. This will not the case for every Duke loss this season, but no one associated with the Blue Devils, coaches and players had a good game on Tuesday night.
While we could list every single player and coach and give the reasons why the performance was poor, the list had to be trimmed to be specific enough to convey reasonable points.
As a team, Duke shot 50.0% from the floor (27-of-54) and 33.3% from 3-point range (5-of-15), not an atrocious performance shooting the basketball, but the Blue Devils were putrid on the free throw line making only 60.0% (24-of-40).
Duke also turned the basketball over 22 times, by far its worst ball handling performance of the season.
While many will focus on the negatives, and that is what this article is about, Vernon Carey Jr. posted his fifth double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds, Matthew Hurt started to find his offensive rhythm with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, and Jack White continues to be a glue guy for this Blue Devil team.
