Duke needs win at Wake Forest to keep season and bowl hopes alive
The Duke Football team needs a win on Saturday evening at Wake Forest to keep its season and bowl hopes alive.
After four straight losses and back-to-back losses by over 30 points, the Duke Football team needs a win against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday evening to keep its bowl game dreams alive.
The issue for the Blue Devils is, they haven’t resembled a decent football team in the last two weeks, only scoring a combined 13 points in the last two games, only one coming via touchdown.

In fact, something happened to the Duke offense at halftime of the win over Georgia Tech because since that half, this has not been the same offense that took the field in the previous four and a half games.
Wake Forest’s offense has not looked sharp in its last two games either, scoring just 17 points in a loss on the road to Virginia Tech and then a drubbing at the hands of No. 3 Clemson where the Deacons only put up 105 yards of offense and three points.
It’s Senior Day at BB&T Field and Wake Forest running back Cade Carney will be looking to put one more licking on the Blue Devils.
Last season when Wake Forest entered Wallace Wade Stadium needing a win to reach bowl eligibility, Carney dominated Duke for 223 yards and two touchdowns en route to a 59-7 victory.
Throughout the season, Ball Durham has been saying that Duke is at its best when the Blue Devils establish the running game with Quentin Harris and Deon Jackson which then opened up the play-action passing game.
That was true in the beginning of the season, but the offensive game-plans have become so vanilla it’s tough to see what this team does well offensively, even against the worst defenses in the ACC.
Can Duke win this game? I’m not really sure, but there’s no way you can predict a victory after watching this team for the past four games.
Duke and Wake Forest will kickoff from BB&T Field in Winston-Salem at 7:30pm EST and the game will be televised on the ACC Network.
PREDICTION: Wake Forest 38, Duke 17
