The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will be looking to get its offense back on track against the Duke Football team on Saturday evening.

After posting a combined 20 points in two games, the Wake Forest offense will be looking to get back on track against the Duke Blue Devils who have not been playing at a high level of late.

Wake started the season at 5-0 and then after dropping a shootout at home to Louisville, the Demon Deacons responded winning its next two games to improve to 7-1 on the season.

Since its last win over North Carolina State, in dominating fashion, Wake has been dominated by its opponents, a 36-17 loss on the road to Virginia Tech followed by a beat down in Death Valley, losing 52-3 at the hands of the No. 3 Clemson Tigers.

Trying to reach an ultimate goal of double-digit wins, Wake Forest would have to win out, beating Duke and Syracuse, followed by a win in its bowl game. If all goes right for Wake, Dave Clawson‘s team will have a 10-3 record at the end of the season.

Clawson has relied on the play of his junior quarterback Jamie Newman, who is completing 63.5% of his passes with 22 touchdowns and nine inceptions on the season. Newman is also a threat on the ground with five touchdown and 320 rushing yards with 122 attempts.

Running back Cade Carney ran over, through, and around the Duke defense this season and the senior is leading the Wake Forest backfield this season with 431 yards and three touchdowns.

Carney’s counterpart, Kenneth Walker III also has three touchdowns on the season with 410 rushing yards.

Newman lost his top receiver Sage Surratt for the season due to an injury and Surratt was a force for the Demon Deacons with 66 receptions for 1,001 yards and 11 touchdowns in just nine games.

In Surratt’s absence, Newman has leaned on Kendall Hinton and Scotty Washington.

Hinton leads Wake’s active players with 53 receptions and 676 yards, but has only found the end zone once while Washington has seven touchdowns in addition to his 35 catches and 607 yards.

Washington has not played since the victory over NC State for Wake Forest and is still considered week-to-week according to the team.

After only totaling 105 yards of offense against Clemson, Wake Forest will be looking to bounce back in a major way on Senior Day against the Duke Blue Devils, who need a win to keep its hopes of a bowl game alive.

Duke and Wake Forest will kickoff at 7:30pm EST on Saturday, November 23 from BB&T Field and the game can be seen on the ACC Network.
