The Duke Football team was embarrassed on its home field once again as the Syracuse Orange rolled over the Blue Devils at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Fans in Durham must be grateful that it’s basketball season, because after a promising start to the football season, the Duke Blue Devils have turned into a joke.

The latest blowout came at the hands of the Syracuse Orange, a team who most recently gave up 58 points to the Boston College Eagles, only surrendered six to the Blue Devils en route to a 49-6 win at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Syracuse had not won an ACC game this season until Saturday afternoon when Tommy Devito led the Orange up and down the field in Durham.

Devito was only 6-of-15 for 105 yards and two touchdowns with six carries for one yard and a touchdown.

The Syracuse running backs ran wild as Jarveon Howard and Moe Neal both ran for 115 yards and a touchdown as Howard did it on nine carries while Neal only needed nine carries.

Trishton Jackson and Luke Benson both caught two passes with a touchdown each, Jackson had 68 yards and Benson only had 28.

Duke was bad on offense and defense.

Quentin Harris has been a shell of himself since the second half against Georgia Tech as the quarterback was 19-of-36 for 157 yards and two interceptions, one that was returned for a touchdown.

The first three possessions the Blue Devils had in the second half were turnovers, both of Harris’ interceptions and a fumble by Mataeo Durant.

Syracuse improved to 4-6 on the season and with two games left, the Orange still have dreams of going to a bowl game and while Duke dropped to 4-6, the Blue Devils must win out to reach a bowl game.

Instead of thinking about the postseason, trying to create a game plan than produces a touchdown could be beneficial for David Cutcliffe and his coaching staff.

Duke hits the road next week to face Wake Forest in the Blue Devils’ final road game of the season.
