The Duke Basketball team secured a major victory over the Central Arkansas Bears on Tuesday night in which several Blue Devils were outstanding on the court.

In its first game as the No. 2 team in the nation this season, the Duke Blue Devils showed as much, rolling past the Central Arkansas Bears, 105-54.

The victory moved to 3-0 on the season with the win, adding to its resume of defeating then No. 3 Kansas on a neutral court and the win over Colorado State at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

More from Ball Durham

Duke’s dominant win might have been dismissed in the national spotlight due to No. 1 Kentucky losing to Evansville, at home, at the same time as the Blue Devils

For the past two wins, Ball Durham has published a ‘Stock Up, Stock Down‘ article but for this game, it will only be a ‘Stock Up‘ post, because there was very little to be upset about for Duke fans.

If there was one area of concern, it would have been the health of sophomore point guard Tre Jones who only played nine minutes due to a hard collision in the first half, Mike Krzyzewski delivered the good news saying Jones would be fine and he was held out due to ‘precautionary reasons’.

Krzyzewski told a joke during his post-game press conference saying he asked Jones what his name was and the guard replied, “Michael” and at his expense Coach K said it was “very bold” of Tre to say that.

With that potential dark cloud removed from Cameron Indoor Stadium, several players stepped up into the spotlight in the absence of Jones, something that needed to be done, showing that Duke can be successful without their All-ACC point guard.
