Javin DeLaurier

Javin DeLaurier entered the year with high expectations as one of the veterans and seniors on this Duke team and on Tuesday night he fell a bit short in meeting those expectations.

DeLaurier finished the night by just playing 14 minutes with four points, four rebounds, and a steal, but couldn’t stay out of foul trouble that has followed him throughout his college career.

The senior had four fouls in his time on the floor while shooting 1-for-4 from the field and 2-of-6 from the free throw line.

Being matched up with Udoka Azubuike and David McCormack didn’t do Javin DeLaurier any favors but it’s easy to see him building off this performance and having a memorable senior season in Durham.

Wendell Moore

Wendell Moore entered Duke as a do-it-all freshman that Mike Krzyzewski could use in many forms on the floor.

Coach K tried to use the freshman in many ways against the Jayhawks, but Moore struggled to respond in his first college game.

Moore came off the bench to play only 12 minutes scoring only two points and grabbing two rebonds.

Shooting 1-of-6 from the floor, Wendell Moore also accounted for four of Duke’s 16 turnovers.

Chalking up this performance to nerves and jitters is fine because while the performance wasn’t there on Tuesday, Wendell Moore has all the tools and skills to be a vital part of this Duke team.

Joey Baker

Joey Baker finds himself on the Stock Down list by none of his own doing.

Baker did not see the floor in Duke’s 68-66 win over Kansas on Tuesday night after he dominated in the Blue Devils’ second scrimmage victory over Fort Valley State.

In the final exhibition, Baker scored a team-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting, 6-of-8 from 3-point range.

While the tempo and pace of the game might have been too intense for Baker in what would have been his first college game, despite getting minimal experience last season, it would have been nice to see the sophomore get some action against Kansas.

For his sake and the rest of the team, hopefully Joey Baker will be able to get consistent minutes in Duke’s next game on Friday evening at Cameron Indoor Stadium against Colorado State at 7:00pm EST and can be seen on the ACC Network.
