RJ Barrett records first career double-double as Knicks pick up first win

Former Duke Basketball star, R.J. Barrett, record his first double-double of his NBA career as the New York Knicks picked up its first win of the season.

The New York Knicks picked up its first win of the season against the Chicago Bulls on Monday night as the team did it in emphatic fashion.

Former Duke Basketball star R.J. Barrett picked up his first career double-double and the Knicks erased an 18-point third quarter deficit to win, 105-98.

Barrett led the Knicks in minutes in the win while he scored 19 points in addition to his 15 rebounds and five assists. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft shot 7-of-15 from the field, missing both of his 3-point attempts, and only made 5-of-11 free throw attempts.

Through his first four games of his NBA career, Barrett has been sensational for the New York Knicks, averaging 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds. 2.7 assists, and 2.7 steals per game while shooting 51.0% from the field and 53.8% from 3-point range.

Barrett’s 21.0 points per game leads the entire Knicks team.

On Monday night, Barrett’s fellow former Duke Blue Devil, Wendell Carter Jr., also notched a double-double with his 20 points and 10 rebounds. Carter Jr. played 28 minutes in the Bulls’ loss and also recorded two assists, one steal, and three blocks.

With the victory, the Knicks improved to 1-3 on the young season while the Bulls fell to 1-3.

Wendell Carter Jr. and the Chicago Bulls will remain on the road for one more game before returning to Chicago as the team heads to Cleveland to face the Cavaliers on Wednesday, October 30 with tipoff slated for 7:00pm EST.

R.J. Barrett and the New York Knicks will also hit the road as the Knickerbockers will face the Orlando Magic also on Wednesday, October 30 to start a two-game road trip. Tipoff between the Knicks and the Magic will be at 7:00pm EST.
