The former Duke Basketball superstar, Marvin Bagley III, will be out for approximately 4-6 weeks after fracturing his thumb in the Sacramento Kings opening night loss.

After a promising 2018-19 season for the Sacramento Kings, 2019-20 didn’t start off well at all.

The team was in Phoenix to open the season against the Suns and the Kings lost 124-95 on the court, and then the team lost off the court after the news broke that second-year forward Marvin Bagley III will be out 4-6 weeks with a fractured thumb.

In the loss to the Suns, Bagley played 28 minutes and registering a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in addition to one steal and one block.

The former Duke Blue Devil made 6-of-16 shots from the floor and made 2-of-4 free throw attempts.

Bagley started the game on Wednesday night, something he didn’t do much in his rookie season as he played in 62 games, starting only four.

The No. 2 pick of the 2018 NBA Draft averaged 14.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game in his first NBA season while shooting 50.4% from the field and 31.3% from 3-point range.

Marvin Bagley was named to the All-Rookie team and finished seventh in the Rookie of the Year voting a year ago.

Another former Blue Devil has been struggling with injury issues for the Sacramento Kings as forward Harry Giles missed the first game of the season on Wednesday and will not play in the Kings’ next game on Friday night.

Sacramento anticipates to have Giles back on the court shortly, but the team is being cautions after his long history with knee injuries throughout his basketball career, starting all the way back in high school.

At 0-1 on the season, the Sacramento Kings will return home for its home opener to face the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday, October 25 with tip-off scheduled for 10:00pm EST.
