The former Duke Basketball stars, Brandon Ingram and JJ Redick, led the way for the New Orleans Pelicans on opening night in an overtime loss to the Toronto Raptors.
Without Zion Williamson on the floor, the New Orleans Pelicans put on a show Tuesday night in Toronto despite an overtime loss to the defending NBA Champions.
The Pelicans were led by former Duke Blue Devils and first year Pelicans, Brandon Ingram and JJ Redick, in the 130-122 defeat.

New Orleans was outscored 15-3 in overtime after leading by five at halftime, but trailing by two entering the fourth quarter. The Pelicans had the largest lead of the game of 11 in the first half and also led by as many as six points in the fourth.
Ingram led the way with 22 points, five rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and one steal in his first game with the team on 8-of-19 shooting from the field and 2-of-5 from 3-point range. The No. 2 overall pick of the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2016 NBA Draft played 35 minutes on opening night.
One of the team’s biggest free agent signings, JJ Redick was on fire from downtown, finishing with 16 points on 6-9 shooting and 4-of-6 from 3-point range. The veteran also had two rebounds and one assist.
Two other former Duke Blue Devils made their presence known for the Pelicans in guard Frank Jackson and big man Jahlil Okafor.
Both players came off the bench in the loss and Jackson logged 14 minutes, scoring nine points on 3-of-6 shooting, while Okafor played 12 minutes and dropped in eight points and two rebounds on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting.
The New Orleans Pelicans drop to 0-1 on the season and will head back down to Louisiana for its home opener on Friday, October 25 against the Dallas Mavericks at 8:00pm EST and it will be televised on ESPN.
