The Duke Basketball point guard, Tre Jones, was named to the Bob Cousy Award Watch List, given to the top point guard in the nation.

A week after being named to the Preseason All-ACC First Team, Duke’s Tre Jones was named to the Bob Cousy Award Watch List.

Tre Jones is entering his sophomore season with the Duke Blue Devils after deciding to return to Durham after his freshman season unlike his teammates, Zion Williamson, R.J. Barrett, and Cam Reddish.

All three players were Top-10 picks in the 2019 NBA Draft.

This is the second year that Jones was put on the Preseason Watch List for the Award and despite not winning the award last season, Jones is primed for a huge 2019-20 campaign.

In his first season at Duke, the Apple Valley, Minnesota native averaged 9.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. The shooting percentages should improve for Jones as he shot 41.4% from the field, but only 26.2% from 3-point range.

This will be an exciting season around college basketball as Tre Jones will have the chance to face four players in the regular season who were also put on the Bob Cousy Award Watch List; Devon Dotson of Kansas, Cassisus Winston of Michigan State, Cole Anthony of North Carolina, Trent Forrest of Florida State, and Kihei Clark of Virginia.

Jones and Dotson will see each other right out of the gates as the Blue Devils and Jayhawks will meet in the State Farm Champions Classic at Madison Square Garden in the first game of the season on November 5.

Since the award was established in 2003-04 season, no Duke Basketball point guard has ever won the Bob Cousy Award.

The Duke Blue Devils will have a deep and talented roster this season with one of the best recruiting classes coming into Durham, but return several key members from the previous years including Jones, as well as seniors Javin DeLaurier and Jack White.
