The Duke Football team cannot fall into the trap game scenario on Saturday afternoon at home against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Duke is coming off a tough loss at home to Pittsburgh and has a chance to get back to its winning ways against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

However, the Blue Devils have to be wary not to be too confident heading into this game as Duke is face-to-face with the definition of a trap game.

More from Ball Durham

Facing a 1-4 team that has shown no signs of life at home in an early kickoff, the Blue Devils must show from the start that they are the superior team.

Last week, Duke had trouble holding onto the football as quarterback Quentin Harris had five turnovers, two interceptions and three fumbles, and Aaron Young also had an interception on a trick play.

Previous to the Pittsburgh game, the Blue Devils had excellent ball security and valued every single possession.

Against Georgia Tech, Duke must get off to a fast start, something they haven’t been able to do that often this season, in addition to taking care of the football.

The running game will be pivotal on both side of the ball for the Blue Devils.

Offensively, running the football is key for Duke as it will open up the passing game in terms of the play-action pass and taking deep shots down the field.

Defensively, Georgia Tech has leaned on its running game since its quarterback play has been suspect at best this season. If Duke is able to control the line of scrimmage and shut down the Yellow Jackets running backs, the Blue Devils should win this game convincingly.

Duke and Georgia Tech will kickoff at 12:30pm EST from Wallace Wade Stadium as the game will be broadcasted on ACC Network Extra and your Regional Sports Network.
