In his four seasons at Duke, Hennessy accumulated four total tackles and one sack before going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Hennessy was signed by the Indianapolis Colts and added to its practice square before being traded to the New York Jets during his first training camp and beating out long-time long snapper Tanner Purdum for the Jets job.
In three seasons with the Jets, Hennessy has not missed a game and has one forced fumble in addition to three combined tackles.
In terms of the team success, things have not been smooth in Thomas Hennessy’s time with the Jets as New York is 9-27 in his three seasons, with an 0-4 record this season.
Hennessy’s time as a long snapper with the Jets has been mostly snapping to punter and holder Lac Edwards, who the Jets drafted in 2016.
The 25-year old is getting the chance to play close to his hometown, being born in Bardonia, New York and attending Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, New Jersey.
The former Duke product was joined by another former Blue Devils this offseason as Jamison Crowder and the Jets agreed to a three-year deal.
Thomas Hennessy and the New York Jets will look to get its first win of the season on Sunday, October 13 as the team will host the Dallas Cowboys from MetLife Stadium at 4:25pm EST and the game can be seen on CBS.
