Blue Devils place two players on the ACC Football Players of the Week

The Duke Football program landed two players on the ACC Players of the Week List after the Blue Devils’ domination of the Virginia Tech Hokies.

The Duke Blue Devils dominated the Virginia Tech Hokies on Friday night in Blacksburg en route to a 45-10 victory.

While many players rose to the occasion and helped the Blue Devils succeed, two players were recognized by their efforts by the Atlantic Coast Conference, center Jack Wohlabaugh and linebacker Koby Quansah.

Koby Quansah was named as the ACC’s Linebacker of the Week.

Duke trailed 3-0 early in the second quarter with very little happening on offense the Virginia Tech offense botched a zone read and Quansah was right there to scoop up the loose ball and set the Blue Devils up at the Virginia Tech 16-yard line.

One play later Duke would make Virginia Tech pay with a 16-yard touchdown taking a 7-3 lead and never looked back.

On the night, Quansah led both sides with 13 tackles in addition to his fumble recovery. The senior also had a pass break-up and half-a-sack in Duke’s victory.

In four games, the Duke defense has only surrendered 83 points, with 42 of those points coming against the then No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide in the opening game of the season.

On the other side of the ball, the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week was Duke’s Jack Wohlabaugh.

The junior center was the leader of the offensive line as the Blue Devils dropped 45 points in addition to not surrendering a sack or a turnover in the win on Friday night.

This was the third straight game that the Duke offensive line did not allow a sack of the quarterback.

The offensive line allowed the Blue Devils running backs  to accumulate 234 yards in the victory over Virginia Tech.

Wohlabaugh and Quansah are Duke’s first two players to be recognized by the ACC this season for their performances in a game.

Things do not get easier for the 3-1 Duke Blue Devils as the team returns to Wallace Wade Stadium to face the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday, October 5 at 8:00pm EST on the ACC Network.
