Jones led the Giants to a comeback victory in his first career start the week before in Tampa Bay against the Buccaneers, who went on the road this week and defeated the reigning NFC Champion Los Angeles Rams.
Washington was just embarrassed on Monday Night Football by the Chicago Bears and many have been calling for the team to fire head coach Jay Gruden and bench quarterback Case Keenum for rookie Dwayne Haskins.
Keenum got the start on Sunday against the Giants but the veteran didn’t last long.
The Giants defense rattled Washington’s starting quarterback after he went 6-for-11 with 37 yards and an interception.
Gruden then turned to his rookie quarterback who looked dazed and confused completing 9-of-17 passes for 107 yards and three interceptions, one returned for a touchdown.
As for the Giants and their stellar rookie quarterback, Daniel Jones wasn’t as prolific as he was in his first start but the former Duke Blue Devil was still very good.
Jones completed 23-of-31 passes for 225 yards, one touchdown, but did throw two interceptions. The No. 6 overall pick also rushed five times for 33 yards in the Giants’ 24-3 victory and moving to 2-2 on the season.
Daniel Jones will get his toughest test yet as a starting quarterback in the NFL as the ferocious Minnesota Vikings defense will come into MetLife Stadium on Sunday, October 6 at 1:00pm EST and the game can be seen on FOX.
The Giants and Daniel Jones will get star wide receiver Golden Tate back in this game after he was suspended for the first four games of the regular season due to illegal substance use.
