Duke demolishes Virginia Tech after slow start in Lane Stadium
The Duke Football team flexed its muscles against the Virginia Tech Hokies on Friday night, coming away with a road ACC victory.
The Duke Blue Devils came, saw, and conquered the Virginia Tech Hokies in Lane Stadium, running the fans out of town on a Friday night, winning the ball game 45-10.
Duke was kind enough to give Virginia Tech a one quarter head start as the Blue Devils ran a total of eight plays for five yards in the first quarter as the Hokies had a 3-0 lead.

With the ball in its own territory in the second quarter, Virginia Tech botched a zone read which was picked up by Koby Quansah and return to the Hokie 16-yard line.
After the commercial break, Quentin Harris found Noah Gray wide open in the end zone on a double-move and Duke took its first lead of the game at 7-3 and never looked back.
Harris was sensational on the night, completing 20-of-27 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing the ball 17 times for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Both of Harris’ touchdown passes were to Gray as the Blue Devil tight end caught six passes for 50 yards and those two touchdowns.
Duke’s running backs also had a great game, with Deon Jackson leading the way with nine carries for 55 yards and a touchdown, while Mataeo Durant had 11 rushes for 29 yards.
Brittain Brown was shaken up in the win, but only has two rushes for 13 yards.
Duke also had an injury scare last in the fourth quarter when Quentin Harris came up limping after a run and went to the sideline. According to the ESPN broadcast, Harris could have returned to the game but due to score and time, he remained on the sideline.
Since Harris was on the sideline, Chris Katrenick was able to find the end zone, running it in himself from nine yards out.
Some good news on the injury front was that Duke got wide receiver Jake Bobo back from a fractured clavicle suffered in August and he caught two passes for 12 yards.
Perhaps the play of the game was wide receiver Jalon Calhoun throwing a 25-yard touchdown pass to Deon Jackson which gave the Blue Devils a 21-3 lead right before halftime.
Duke moves to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in ACC play as the Blue Devils will head home to face the Pittsburgh Panthers on October 5 at 8:00pm EST on the ACC Network.
