The New York Mets were able to get a victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday afternoon but former Duke Baseball pitcher Marcus Stroman could not last long enough for a decision.

The New York Mets are still holding onto any last hope of getting into the National League Playoffs and a 6-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds helped on Sunday afternoon.

While the Mets were able to get the win, Marcus Stroman was not able to last long enough in the game to get a decision.

After being taken out after four and two-thirds innings, Stroman picked up the no-decision on the afternoon.

Brad Brach relived the former Blue Devil and picked up his fifth win of the season.

New York exploded with a four-run first inning thanks to an RBI double from Robinson Cano and a three-run home run from Michael Conforto.

Stroman allowed two runs on three hits while walking three and striking out two in just 86 pitches as his record remains at 9-13 with a 3.23 ERA this season with the Toronto Blue Jays and Mets.

Marcus Stroman was originally scheduled to pitch on Monday when the Mets returned to Citi Field against the Miami Marlins, but manager Mickey Callaway opted to roll with Stroman based on favorable matchups and better road stats.

The Mets pushed Steven Matz back to Monday against the Marlins while Stroman is scheduled to get back on the mound on Friday, September 27 in the opening game of the final series of the regular season when the Mets host the Atlanta Braves, who have already clinched the National League East Division Title.

With time fleeting, the Mets trail the Washington Nationals and Milwaukee Brewers, who are tied for the top two sports in the National League Wild Card, by four and a half games with seven games to play.

The Mets have an elimination number of just three.
