Michigan State defeated the Blue Devils last season 68-67 to advance to the Final Four but lost the the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the National Semifinal.
Duke will return three starters from that game; Tre Jones, Alex O’Connell, and Javin DeLaurier.
O’Connell started the game for the injured Cam Reddish who did not play in the Sweet 16 victory over Virginia Tech and came off the bench in the Elite Eight. O’Connell only played the opening three minutes as Reddish logged 37 minutes.
Cam Reddish entered the NBA Draft shortly after the loss along with fellow freshmen Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett, in which all three players were Top-10 picks.
The Blue Devils will also be without Marques Bolden who entered the NBA Draft after his junior season but did not get selected. Bolden played 17 minutes in the loss to the Spartans.
Duke and Michigan State will follow the Syracuse Orange and Iowa Hawkeyes on ESPN on December 3.
Michigan State will return its star and potential National Player of the Year candidate Cassius Winston who posted 20 point and 10 assists in the win over Duke last season.
Both team are projected to be in the Top-5 to start the season but if both teams will still be there come December 3 remains to be seen.
The non-conference schedule is out for the Blue Devils and the remainder of the ACC slate of games will be released on Thursday, September 12 at 9:00pm EST on the ACC Network.
