Daniel Jones made his NFL debut on Sunday for the New York Giants and the former Duke Football star completed his first career NFL pass.

The New York Giants opened its season against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and it wasn’t all bad for Big Blue.

While the front office and coaches claim that there no quarterback controversy this offseason between Eli Manning and rookie Daniel Jones, the play on the field in the preseason would say otherwise.

Anyway, Manning was the starter and led the Giants down the field on its opening drive of the season.

New York would only score 10 more points in the game, losing to the Cowboys, 35-17. Manning finished the afternoon completing 30-of-44 passes for 306 yards and one touchdown with one fumble lost.

All wasn’t lost for the Giants as the team was able to give rookie Daniel Jones his first action in an NFL regular season game.

Jones completed his first three NFL passes, two to running back Wayne Gallman and one to tight end Evan Engram. The only incomplete pass Daniel Jones threw against the Cowboys was intended for Rhett Ellison.

The lone drive the former Duke Blue Devil had on the afternoon was cut short after he tried to rush to pick up a first down on a 3rd & 4 and fumbled after colliding with multiple players near the first down marker.

Dallas took over and was able to take a few kneel downs to end the game, as Jones went 3-of-4 for 17 yards.

While it is unknown when, and if, Daniel Jones will get his first NFL regular season start this season, the New York Giants will be back home at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday, September 15 to face the Buffalo Bills at 1:00pm EST and the game can be seen on CBS.
